Simply Spacers – Scirocco Wheel Spacers

WCR in house brand of Scirocco Wheel Spacers, Simply Spacers, come in a few different sizes. 5mm, 10mm, 15mm, & 20 mm spacers. These will increase your offset of your wheels and move them closer to the outside of the body. This gives your Scirocco that flush clean look while not compromising your handling or steering.

Additionally, if you are running a high offset wheel like some BBS wheels, you will need a spacer, specifically in the rear.

All Scirocco Wheel Spacers are sold in pairs – 1 qty = 2 Spacers

Measuring What Spacers You Need:

The best way to measure what you need is by putting a straight edge vertically on your wheel arch. Then, measure from the straight edge to the wheel or tire. This will give you the spacer thickness you need

Furthermore, if you put spacers on, you will need longer wheel bolts. There are two different sizes of wheel bolts you need to calculate.

Steel Wheels:

Steel wheels have a much shorter wheel bolt than a cast wheel. Those sotck wheel bolts ball seal and are M12X1,5  & 20mm long. Add your spacer thickness to the length and you will get the size of wheel bolt you need for your Scirocco Wheel Spacers.

Example:

20mm + 5mm Wheel Spacers = 25mm bolt needed

Cast Aluminum Wheels:

Cast wheels have a more standard wheel bolt size. Those stock wheel bolts ball seal and are M12X1,5 24mm long. Add your spacer thickness to the length and you will get the size of wheel bolt you need for your Scirocco Wheel Spacers.

Example:

24mm + 5mm Wheel Spacers = 29mm bolt needed
(a 30mm wheel bolt will also work)

Rule of Thumb for  Scirocco Wheel Spacers & Bolts

Once you start threading the bolt into the hub, count 5 full – 360º rotations. This is how much you need for the perfect amount to thread into the wheel hub. 6 rotations is ok too, but you need to ready the following:

  • Too Short: The wheel bolts may bend, snap, or strip the threads out of the wheel hub.
  • Too Long: The wheel bolts could hit the back side of the front steering knuckle or rear spindle, causing damage to the wheel bearings. IF you have rear drums, this could damage the drum brake assembly, shoes, springs and clips.

ALWAYS SPIN YOU WHEEL 360º AT LEAST 2-3 TIMES TO MAKE
SURE THERE IS NO BACK SIDE CONTACT ON YOUR WHEEL HUBS.

Cone Seat vs Ball Seat Lug Bolts

All OEM wheels are ball seat. If you have OEM wheels you need Ball Seat Lugs. This includes 2 Piece VW factory Mk2 BBS RS wheels, and wheels such as P-Slots. Also Some Ronal wheels are also ball seat. This is VERY important. If you put a ball seat lug on a cone seat wheel or a cone seat lug on a ball seat wheel – Your lug to wheel contact area is only about 1mm and WILL NOT be safe. You MUST be sure you are ordering the correct size before ordering.

Test your wheels:
Remove one of your lug bolts and check your wheel that you are putting the spacers on. I will put my finger on the mating surface to check. If the surface feels very flat, it’s probably cone. If the seat feels like your finger is being cupped, then it’s ball. Remember, your finger is roundish, so on ball seats, you should feel the seat cup around half your entire finger tip. A cone seat will not feel like this.

DO NOT rely on checking the lug bolts.
ALWAYS TEST THE WHEELS YOU ARE BUYING LUG BOLTS FOR.
Far too many times, we have seen the wrong lug bolts on the wrong wheels.

NOTES:

We only have specific sized bolts in stock. You may receive a lug that is 1mm longer or shorter. We will match the known working size with what spacer you order. If you have any questions, please contact us and we will help with any questions you may have.
