Hella History
Hella company founded in 1899 and trademarked in 1908. By 1937, The Hella Corporation has over 1000 employees. 45 employees remained at the end of WWII Hella. Over the next two decades, Hella rebuilt their brand and in 1961 they broke out into the international stage. In 1984 they sold over 1 million annually in Deutschmarks for the first time. By 1990, Hella had over 20k employees worldwide.
Since then, Hella has achieved sales of € 4.4 billion in the seven-month short fiscal year 2022. Firstly, as part of the strategy is the global presence in significant growth markets. In the past fiscal year, we generated over one third of our consolidated sales in the markets outside Europe. Furthermore, HELLA has some 36,000 employees, more then 8,000 of whom work in R&D.
